Peace Movement of St. Francis

Contact: Mary Sullivan

Scheduled Meetings: First Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Family Center.  Our next meeting will be February 6th from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. in the St. Francis Family Center.  We have begun discussing the series of videos from the 2018 Peace and Justice Summit held in Montgomery, Alabama.  The next topic of discussion is MASS INCARCERATION:  HOW RACIAL INEQUALITY SHAPES CRIMINAL JUSTICE.  Please click on this link to watch the video beforehand and you may also see Peace and Justice Summit 2018 on youtube and get a full list of videos.

Mission Statement: The Peace Movement of St. Francis group is part of the international Catholic peace movement. We meet in the spirit of the nonviolent Jesus. It is committed to the exploration of the Christian tradition and witness of nonviolence, which rejects war, preparations for war, and every form of violence and domination. It promotes the gospel imperative of peacemaking as a priority in the Catholic Church.

Current Activities: Individual Responsibility of Committee Members:

  • Promote the gospel imperative of peacemaking
  • Establish strong, honest, caring relationships — both personal and institutional — across racial lines that can transform structures and cultures of violence and domination

Current Volunteer Opportunities:  New members are always welcome.
