  • Scout BSA Troop 222 - Wreath Sale

    Sunday Nov 1, 2020 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.  The Scouts in Troop 222 participate in a challenging outdoor program while learning to become responsible citizens and leaders. One such tenet in the scouting program is Duty to God.  Many of the scouts at St. Francis do this through service in the parish, receiving the sacrament of Confirmation, and working towards earning the Ad Altare Dei religious emblem for the Catholic faith.

In order to support the Troop’s continued efforts, they will be taking preorders for Christmas wreaths during the month of October.  These stunning wreaths will arrive locally for delivery or pickup on December 4.  For more information, there is an insert in the bulletin with available greenery and contact information.  In addition, you can purchase online at https://sherwoodfundraiser.com/HiltonHeadTroop222 or email us at Troop222hhi@gmail.com.

The Scouts of Troop 222 will be present after masses on Oct.  31 and Nov. 1st  if you would like more information about membership in the Scouts BSA program or our wreath sales.

  • SFCS - Pottery Jam

Friday Nov 6, 2020 All day

Hello SFCS!!  We are very excited for the 15th Annual Pottery Jam!  The event will take place on Friday November 6th - Sunday, November 8th.  Pottery Jam is a paint-your-own pottery fundraising event for the Fine Arts Department. Here's how it works:  Sign-up for a time slot (more information regarding registration below!), stop by the gym on the weekend of the event and choose from our wide variety of pottery, and paint with friends!  There are no sitting fees or paint fees - only pay for your purchased pottery!  SFCS has its own kiln, and your items will be fired and ready to go home the following week with your student. It's that easy and fun!

We promise fun and lots of new pottery, but like everything in 2020, the event will be slightly modified.  To maintain the health and safety of all members of our school community, registering for a designated time to paint will be required and we will have additional restrictions in place this year.  Pottery Jam will take place in the gym with lots of space to spread out, so finding a time convenient for your family should not be a problem.

We will be offering Class Sessions once again this year.  If you choose to attend, class sessions are a great opportunity for classmates to attend together (but socially distanced) and for parents to get to know each other.  Class sessions for each grade are listed on the Sign-Up Genius link below, so please look for your grade!  Please note, that students are not required to attend Pottery Jam with their class, and are welcome to attend an "Open Session" that may be more convenient for your family.

Below is additional information to ensure a smooth event:

    • Masks will be required.

    • Temperatures will be taken upon entering the event.

    • There will be assigned seating and families will be assigned to the same table.  Individuals painting will be appropriately distanced from other painters.

    • Workspaces will be cleaned following each attendee.

    • Should you need additional time to finish your pottery, you may schedule another time slot with a volunteer that day.

    • Please be sure to read the time slots on Signup Genius carefully and continue to scroll to the multiple pages for available times.

    • Please only sign-up attendees from your family (including grandparents and other extended family), do not sign-up other classmates.

    • When signing up, please enter your name and add the # in your family attending in parentheses.

    • Friends, neighbors and extended family are welcome!  Please forward the sign-up link below and have them sign-up separately.

    • On the sign-up link, there are also opportunities for parent volunteers at the class sessions.  If you have time, we would greatly appreciate the extra set of hands!  Responsibilities include assisting painters, cleaning, and overseeing the safety of the children.  ALL parent volunteers must have participated in the Safe Haven certification through the school.

    • We will also have Middle School student volunteers, therefore, younger participating students may be dropped off for the event.  However, please escort your child into the gym so they may be checked in with a volunteer.

    • If you have any questions, concerns, or if a class session is full, please contact sfcspotteryjam@gmail.com

Finally! Below is the link to Sign-Up Genius for Pottery Jam painting sessions:
