Vocations Awareness

Scheduled Meetings: Meetings are scheduled as required.

Mission Statement: The goal of the Vocations Awareness Ministry is to provide an atmosphere in the parish in which all eligible people may carefully consider priesthood, the diaconate or religious life as a possible calling for themselves.

Current Activities:

  • To pray daily for increased vocations
  • To become aware of the various ministries of the Catholic Church, particularly the priesthood, diaconate and religious life
  • To offer support and encouragement to priests, deacons and religious within the parish
  • To provide example through personal Christian family life as a means of encouraging vocations
  • To accept and carry out assigned tasks and to report on the progress of the assigned work.  Tasks could include working with other parish committees.

Current Volunteer Opportunities: New members are always welcome.

Would You Like to Be a Monk for a Month or For a Year?

Mepkin Abbey, in Moncks Corner, has announced the opening of their new Mepkin Affiliate Program. Would you like to live from your Sacred Center Seeking God in Contemplative prayer?  Would you like to touch the archetype of “Monkhood, ” a constitutive dimension of human life?  Mepkin Abbey offers you the opportunity to enjoy all of these experiences and more in their holistic environment.

There are three options available:  the new Monastic Institute Program - a month-long seminar for men and women during July 2018; the Monastic Guest Program - a month-long residency for men; and the Monastic Residency Program- a year-long residency for men.  Applications are now being accepted for all of these programs.  You can find applications and more detailed information on their website by clicking on this link.  All programs are free of cost.
