Ministry Mission Statement:  Family Promise of Beaufort County (FPBC) opened its doors in July of 2008 and remains the only Shelter Program in Beaufort and Jasper County that serves the homeless children, aged 18 and under, and their families.  FPBC was founded on the belief that one homeless child is too many!

FPBC recently purchased a home that acts as their shelter and serves up to 7 families.  Shelter is a 90-day program that provides families with temporary shelter, comprehensive case management, and other services to assist families in their journey to sustaining independence.  Over 90% of the families that graduate from the program, are still in permanent house after one-year.

FPBC offers a HAND-UP, NOT A HANDOUT to families in need by working to determine the underlying causes of a family's homelessness and then equipping them with the skills and resources needed for lasting independence.  Many have experienced generational poverty.  FPBC's goal is to help break the cycle by providing comprehensive case management and assistance in securing employment, medical care, childcare, school placement, and ultimately affordable housing.

Current Ministry Activities:  This St. Francis By the Sea Outreach Ministry assists FPBC by providing a nutritious evening meal 2 -3 evenings each quarter.  Several volunteers prepare the meal, and one volunteer will deliver the meal to the FPBC office in Old Town Bluffton by 2 p.m. on their assigned day.  Meals should be simple and family friendly.

No volunteers are currently needed to stay over-night at the Shelter. However, there are opportunities, particularly on the weekend days, to conduct child friendly activities at the Shelter. VIRTUS certification and FPBC volunteer training is required to participate.

Current Volunteer Opportunities:   Our next Meal Preparation and Delivery is scheduled for Friday, March 13th and Monday, March 16th.

Please contact Marsha Murphy, our FPBC Coordinator to be added to the volunteer roster.  You may email Marsha - murphymarsha1967@gmail.com
