Vocations Awareness

Scheduled Meetings: Meetings are scheduled as required.
Mission Statement: The goal of the Vocations Awareness Ministry is to provide an atmosphere in the parish in which all eligible people may carefully consider priesthood, the diaconate or religious life as a possible calling for themselves.
Current Activities:
- To pray daily for increased vocations
- To become aware of the various ministries of the Catholic Church, particularly the priesthood, diaconate and religious life
- To offer support and encouragement to priests, deacons and religious within the parish
- To provide example through personal Christian family life as a means of encouraging vocations
- To accept and carry out assigned tasks and to report on the progress of the assigned work. Tasks could include working with other parish committees.

Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone has accepted 10 new seminarians for the Diocese of Charleston. They are:
Colin Doering: 18 years old, St. Gregory the Great, Bluffton
Alex Foley: 22 years old, St. Mary's Church, Greenville
Michael Kane: 22 years old, St. Gregory the Great, Bluffton
Paul Lacombe: 27 years old, St. Peter's Church, Beaufort
Chris Loester: 37 years old, St. John the Beloved Church, Summerville
Mauricio Moreno: 27 years old, St. Gregory the Great, Bluffton
Trenton Redmond: 27 years old, St. Andrew Church, Myrtle Beach
Blake Schuman: 18 years old, Divine Redeemer Church, Hanahan
Paul Sizemore: 29 years old, Cathedral St. John the Baptist, Charleston
Michael Tracy: 34 years old, Cathedral St. John the Baptist, Charleston
These new vocations bring our total number to 23 seminarians discerning the priesthood. Please pray for these young men as they begin their studies this Fall and also for newly ordained Deacon Rafael Ghattas and for Deacons Michael Cellars and Will Frei, who are both due to be ordained to the priesthood on July 10th.
